The arts industry in Eswatini continues to face serious challenges that limit the growth and recognition of local talent. Many artists receive no support or acknowledgment for their international achievements, despite representing the country on global platforms. Opportunities are often blocked when event licenses are denied without transparency, leaving creatives unable to host or participate in major projects. The lack of accessible funding and structures that genuinely empower artists has created an environment where progress is slow and uneven. We are not allowed to participate in international event if a director of an association clash with the event organizer just because they were not given permit or license to host that event in that country.
Furthermore, favoritism remains a major concern, with some associations operating like private agencies, personal companies, or exclusive clubs rather than serving as fair and inclusive bodies for all artists. These practices undermine equal opportunity, weaken the industry, and silence the voices of many creatives who deserve recognition and support. This petition therefore calls for urgent intervention, accountability, and reforms that will restore fairness, ensure transparency, and create a supportive space where every artist in Eswatini can thrive.
