To:
- Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal
- Dr. Manoj Pant, Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal
- Smt. Nandini Chakravorty, Home Secretary, Government of West Bengal
Respected Madam and Sir,
I am writing to express my deep shock and anguish over the horrific incident that took place on Friday night in Hatpukur area under Jalgacha Police Station, Howrah, where four men reportedly burnt five helpless puppies to death after they cried out in the cold.
This barbaric act of cruelty has shaken the conscience of citizens and demands immediate and decisive intervention from the State Government. Such heinous crimes not only reflect a grave disregard for animal life but also pose a serious threat to the moral fabric of our society.
I earnestly request you to:
- Direct the police to swiftly identify, arrest, and detain the culprits involved in this crime.
- Ensure that they are prosecuted under the strictest provisions of law, including relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
- Establish this case as an example of zero tolerance towards animal cruelty, so that such acts are never repeated in our state.
The people of West Bengal look to your leadership to uphold justice and humanity. I sincerely hope that immediate steps will be taken to deliver justice for these innocent lives.
Yours faithfully,
Shubham Sen on behalf of people of West Bengal
